US cross-border shipments require more detailed item declarations than domestic Canada shipments. Each item must include customs information for clearance.
Required fields per item
HTS-10 Code
The HTS-10 code identifies the type of goods being imported into the United States. It is used by US customs to determine the applicable duty rate.
- Must be exactly 10 digits
- Required for every item in the shipment
- Look up codes at hts.usitc.gov
Incorrect or missing HTS codes may cause customs delays or rejected shipments. Verify each code before submitting.
Manufacturer details
Each item must be linked to a manufacturer. Provide:
- Business name
- Address (line 1 and line 2 if applicable)
- City
- Country โ determines the country of origin for customs
Saving manufacturers
Manufacturer records can be saved and reused across shipments. You can also set a manufacturer as your default to pre-populate the field automatically on future shipments.
