# Shipment Contents

> Declare the items inside your Canada-bound shipment, including descriptions and estimated values.

Declare what's inside the package. This information is used to calculate insurance coverage if you choose to add it at the next step.

## Adding items

For each item in the shipment, provide:

* **Item description** — a plain-language description of what the item is (e.g. "t-shirt", "phone case", "ceramic mug")
* **Quantity** — the number of units of that item
* **Estimated unit value** — the approximate value per unit in CAD

You can add multiple items to a single shipment. For example, a package containing 2 t-shirts and 1 hoodie would be listed as two separate line items.

## Declared value and insurance

The total declared value from all items is used to calculate the cost of shipment insurance at the add-ons step. Even if you don't plan to add insurance, accurate values help in the event of a loss or damage claim.
