# Delivery Verification

> Require the driver to collect a PIN from the recipient before completing delivery for your Canada shipment.

Delivery Verification requires the driver to confirm that the package was physically handed to the recipient before the delivery is marked complete.

<Note>
  Delivery PIN Verification is currently available for Canada shipments only. For USA shipments, see [Delivery Verification](/en/shipments/usa/delivery-verification).
</Note>

## Delivery PIN Verification

When a shipment is opted in to Delivery PIN Verification, the recipient receives a secure PIN through the contact information on file — email is required and always used; providing a mobile number is strongly recommended so recipients have multiple ways to receive their PIN.

The driver does not know the PIN. Upon arrival, the driver prompts the recipient to verbally provide their PIN, enters it on their device, and the delivery is marked complete once the PIN is accepted.

If the recipient is unsure of their PIN, the driver can resend the PIN notification to the email address and/or mobile number already on file. The driver cannot change or substitute these details — only the contact information originally provided is used.

If a valid PIN cannot be collected, the delivery attempt fails and the shipment is scheduled for reattempt on a future route.

<Note>
  When Delivery Verification is enabled, safe drop (leaving the package unattended) is not permitted. The driver must make direct contact with the recipient.
</Note>

<Warning>
  If a mobile number is provided, the recipient's PIN may be sent by SMS in addition to email. In rare cases, the recipient's mobile carrier may charge standard message and data rates for this text, depending on their plan — this is not a charge from UniUni or your business. We recommend including similar disclosure in your own customer messaging about verified deliveries, since your customers may also be charged by their carrier for related SMS notifications.
</Warning>

## Confirmation methods

* **PIN** — recipient verbally provides a secure PIN sent to their email and/or mobile number on file
* **Signature** — recipient signs to confirm receipt *(being phased out and replaced with PIN Verification)*
